Visitors to the Cornfield Series: Enlightened Observers with Prayer Stick and Snake
Elements of the paintings:
One of the Warriors has a snake wrapped around her arm and in the other a Prayer Stick with feathers that fly in the wind.
The image of the snake appears previously in my collages and paintings. I was influenced by Joseph Campbells’ Power of the Myth. He states that the Snake is a positive thing, it is the 2nd best thing next to the Buddha. It sheds its skin, a sign of re-birth. In many cultures the snake is worshiped as a god and has the Power of Life to throw off death. It is an empowering symbol
The Feather is sign of strength/ wisdom
The Crow resting above the heads - is a spirit guide.
The Circles around each of the warriors heads is meant to add a spiritually to the painting.
"I do believe in an afterlife and feel spirit guidance. The spirit guides are whispering in my ear and giving me positive energy and vibrations.”
